Austy & Mubby

My Son – Austin Foskett
The Folded Soup Project is made in Austin’s memory.
The name comes from his Instagram tag, the picture is the profile pic he had with it.
I figured it was best to use this one, as oppose to his Steam account name DaSwirlyPoo32 for obvious reasons.
Austin is my Waitangi baby, born 6th Febuary 2005 and he passed away on 20th August 2024, just 19-years-young.
He was generous, funny, silly, kind, quick-witted and had no qualms at beating anyone at their best game.
Austin was a lover of cats, shiny things, and a collector of trinkets.
Connoisseur of cheeseboards, fine cuts of steak, ice cream, plum sponge pudding, nacho pies, and cheeseburgers with Big Mac sauce.
Best mate of Seth, Nathaniel, Luca, James J, James N, Daniel, Josh, Trevor and Reeve.
Best big brother to Bella and Jasmine.
We might have lost Austin to suicide, but we know where he is, and so we have some comfort, and look forward to seeing him again.

Me – Gemma Goodwin
On the 20th August 2024, my son Austin, took his life.
I had no idea that he battled any sort of mental illness or depression.
I thought my son was carving out a great life for himself, and I was so proud of him.
Being of Christian faith, I decided to give a big F you to the devil, and do as much good as I could in my son’s memory.
Cooking for people is my love language, and I prided myself on feeding my children well – Austin having expressed that he wanted to go into a café or restaurant with me.
Sadly, I never thought I was that good, but now this missed opportunity is a forever regret, amongst many that I will always have.
Austin’s love language was giving, and he would feed homeless people as a young child, and as he got older, he would give them his money.
He was beyond generous.
And so, I can’t feed my boy anymore, but I can take a bit of his spirit and mix it with a bit of mine, and I can feed people in his memory.
